AUSTIN RECAP
We recently took a weekend trip to Austin, and, unfortunately, I’ve been experiencing headaches that last up to 48 hours. I felt miserable during the trip. Sebastian and I mostly walked around the hotel and explored the Domain. FYI, don't let anyone ever lie to you — traveling with a toddler and being pregnant is hard work, folks! Considering the picture-perfect pressures of social media, we often are consumed with what parenting should look like. But parenting is seldom pretty and often difficult! I dug deep for patience on this trip, it was a “JESUS, take the wheel” moment. Sebastian cried almost the entire way home; he was uncomfortable, tired and wanted to walk around. Nicholas made a few stops and had him stretch his legs. But as soon as he was back in his car seat, the crying resumed. We tried giving him toys, snacks, even a movie, but nothing worked. After taking this trip, I couldn’t help but feel guilty. Was I expecting too much out of Sebastian? Once we made it home, Sebastian was back to his happy self, running around the house and playing with Lady. Nicholas and I quickly turned to each other and said, WE ARE NEVER LEAVING THE HOUSE AGAIN! Which raises the question, how did our parents travel with kids, and did they even travel!? Traveling with a toddler is something we are still trying to figure out and would like to continue doing. Any advice or tips? I'm beginning to wonder whether traveling is even worth it.
Please share your honest parenthood moments with me.
