GALVESTON
We took a bitter-sweet trip to Galveston recently. Bitter because we planned to go with our dear friends the Rivera-Cagniarts who were unable to join. Sweet because we never fail to have a wonderful time at the beach. Both Nicholas and I had pleasant images in mind of Sebastian and Gigi as teens having grown up as Gulf Coast beach bums with sand in their hair, golden toasting of their skin and a board strapped to their ankle. They have absolutely no fear or hesitation about jumping into the salt water, and this time we had fun trying to catch waves. They also had fun digging in the sand for crabs and found many little buggers looking for new shell homes. It was a peaceful getaway.
We owe them a glowing Google review, but allow me to echo here that Galveston Beachfront Bliss vacation rental was fantastic, as always. The house is clean and meticulously kept. It has every amenity you could think of to provide a comfortable, cozy and convenient beachfront stay. We even sampled area cuisine this time, and it was great. Mario’s Pizza was yummy and well worth the wait. Nate’s West End Bar and Grill had great burgers and really good pub food.
The small sigh of relief came when it rained mostly in the evening and on our check-out day. Other than that, a wonderful small rest that made us realize how quickly our kids are growing up.
